JULIA ELSAS X WHITNEY SHOP

My exclusive capsule collection for the Whitney Shop, celebrating the 2024 Whitney Biennial is now on view and for sale in store and online. The fifty-two hand built one-of-a-kind ceramic functional sculptures were made in collaboration with the Whitney Shop. The glaze colors in the collection were made to match the Whitney Museum’s 2024 Biennial branding (see colors slide).

JULIA ELSAS X THE JEWISH MUSEUM

After seeing my 2022 ceramic dreidel collaboration with 20x200 (see below) the Jewish Museum in NYC commissioned their own version of a ceramic dreidel for Hanukkah 2023.

In 2022, I collaborated with 20x200 to make a unique one-of-a-kind dreidel for the holiday season. After a few months of prototyping, I came up with the All is a Miracle Dreidel. This limited edition collaboration sold exclusively through 20x200.

Standing approximately 3.5" wide and 2.75" tall on the base, the dreidels were inspired by the exuberant shapes, colors, and textures seen in the sculptures of Peter Shire and Ron Nagel. 

The text “All is a Miracle,” is from Thich Nhat Hanh’s The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation, and is written in both English and Hebrew on the top of the dreidel. Using the richly reflective palladium glaze on a wedge shaped base, I designed my dreidels to rest playfully tilted atop the stand so that the words are mirrored on the surface.

In 2021, the team at Artists and Fleas and REGENERATION reached out to me to make custom alphabet ceramic wall hooks for their Williamsburg, Brooklyn location.
