SONIC MUD at The Carnegie Museum of Art →
On December 1st, 2024 at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA musicians David Bernabo, Trē Seguritan Abalos, Marina López, and SONIC MUD (featuring Julia Elsas and Kenny Wollesen) will present new music with scores created from the forms, shapes, practice, and sonic landscape of ceramic artist Beate Kuhn during the final day of her solo exhibition, Turn.
Beate Kuhn (1927–2015) was a German sculptor known for her rhythmic ensembles of deconstructed, ceramic forms such as discs, cylinders, cones, and spheres. She also channeled beautiful and sublime aspects of nature with formal allusions to succulents, seeds, mushrooms, and invertebrate animals.
Beate Kuhn: Turn is organized by Rachel Delphia, Alan G. and Jane A. Lehman Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, with Alyssa Velazquez, assistant curator.
